Initial Physiotherapy Assessment

Your first visit is a comprehensive, one‑on‑one assessment designed to understand your injury, movement patterns, health history, and goals. We take the time to listen, assess thoroughly, and explain our findings so you know exactly what is going on and why.

Your initial appointment includes:

  • A detailed conversation about your symptoms, training, lifestyle, or injury history

  • A full physical and functional assessment tailored to your activity (e.g., running, sport, pelvic health, post‑op)

  • Movement analysis and strength, mobility, or neurological testing as needed

  • Education on your condition and what to expect

  • An individualized treatment plan

  • Hands‑on treatment and exercise prescription to begin your care right away

By the end of your visit, you will leave with a clear understanding of your diagnosis, a plan that matches your goals, and the tools to start feeling better immediately.

Follow-Up Physiotherapy Treatment

Follow-up sessions focus on progressing your rehabilitation, refining your movement, and ensuring your recovery stays on track. Depending on your needs and complexity, you can choose a 30‑minute or 60‑minute appointment.

In your follow-up sessions we may:

  • Re-assess symptoms, progress, and movement patterns

  • Advance your exercise program

  • Provide hands-on treatment (manual therapy, IMS/dry needling, shockwave, BFR, etc.)

  • Review training load, sport return, or daily activity goals

  • Build long-term strategies to keep you active and confident

Whether you are managing a new injury, persistent pain, or a performance goal, each session builds on the last to support lasting improvement - not quick, temporary fixes.

Our Treatment Techniques

We use a range of evidence‑based treatment techniques designed to improve mobility, strength, and confidence in your movement. Every technique is tailored to your goals so you can feel better and stay active long term.

  • Understanding what your injury or condition is and what you can do (and should not do) to help manage it is one of the most important pieces that you will take away from your visit! No need to take a gamble on Dr. Google; get back on track faster with our professional advice and a clear plan tailored to your needs.

  • Hands on treatment can help reduce pain. Whether it’s for muscle, nerve, joint or spinal injuries, our physiotherapists may use manual therapy in combination with other approaches. Manual therapy techniques include soft-tissue/myofascial release, joint mobilizations and manipulations, traction, Mulligan concept and McKenzie approaches.

  • Intramuscular stimulatuion (IMS) is a technique where an acupuncture needle is inserted into muscular tissue, with the goal of relieving muscular and nervous system tension. It can be an effective treatment option for acute or persistent pain, and is best used in combination with active rehabilitation. Book your IMS physiotherapy appointment in Kelowna with our IMS certified physiotherapists Bea Francisco and Sydney McNulty.

  • When done properly, running can be a form of rehabilitation for most running injuries. Our running-specialized physiotherapists can create and modify training personalized programs to help you safely navigate your injury. Feel confident in your recovery with a clear plan of action!

  • Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that utilizes acoustic waves to promote healing and reduce pain in various musculoskeletal conditions. This therapy works by delivering high-energy sound waves to targeted areas, stimulating blood flow, cellular repair, and tissue regeneration. In physiotherapy, shockwave therapy is particularly beneficial for conditions such as tendon injuries and plantar fasciitis.

  • Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) therapy is an innovative technique that uses external bands to temporarily restrict venous blood flow while allowing arterial flow, creating a low-oxygen environment in the muscles. This can stimulate significant gains in strength and hypertrophy even with lower intensity exercises, and without placing excessive strain on the healing tissues. BFR therapy is particularly helpful for athletes and clients who are recovering from surgery/injuries who may not be able to perform high-load resistance training.
