What is it?

If you’re looking for a trail running group in Kelowna, you’ve come to the right place. Our 10-week program is designed to get participants to run at least 2 hours (~10-15km) on the trails. It includes 2 weekly group training sessions (Tuesdays evenings + Sunday mornings) and a training program for individual runs. Plus, the educational content built by our team of physiotherapists will help you reach your objectives in a smart way.

  • Learn and experience proper training periodization

  • Practice uphill and downhill

  • Improve your running form

  • Work on strengthening exercises to help you run safer and faster

  • Learn about trail running gear and footwear

  • Have fun with friends!

Tuesday sessions will always be at Knox Mountain from 6:15pm-7:15PM with a focus on skills & hills.

Sunday sessions will be easy pace longer runs starting at 8am, roughly 1-hour duration to start, and progressing to 2 hours by the end of the program. Location varies as we explore different trails around Kelowna.

10 week program: $275 including GST

Laurence Laprise

Kaz and Laurence are physiotherapists who specialize in running. They are very excited to train with you on the beautiful Okanagan trails!

Kaz & Laurence will lead the program designed by our team. Our physiotherapists are all trail runners, and have taken extra training in (and even teach!) the latest science about running. In collaboration with The Running Clinic and different universities, our physiotherapy clinic also actively participates in conducting running injury research.

Who can register?

Our Trail Running Clinic is ideal for those who:

  • Want to start trail running, and progress safely

  • Already enjoy the trails, and are looking for a community of like-minded runners

  • Tend to struggle with injuries

  • Want to learn about everything related to trail running

To participate, you must be able to run for 30 minutes without getting injured. You should also be running at least twice per week, and ideally with a few hills. No need to be fast! This is to ensure that the program will be appropriate for you.

If you’re not there yet, don’t worry! You can still build up gradually up until the clinic starts on April 9th.

FAQs

I’m new to trail running, can I still sign up?

As long as you can continually run 30 minutes on the road or on the trail, you can sign up for our program. The running speed doesn’t matter, so our minimal requirement for the program is to be able to run for 30 minutes without stopping.

I only have road running shoes, do I need to buy specific shoes?

Not necessarily! The trails we will be starting with aren’t too technical. You will learn about footwear so you can buy your trail running shoes if necessary after that, based on your goals and preferences

Can I sign up if I’m injured?

If you are injured or you have a recurrent running injury, we recommend that you book a running assessment with our physiotherapists before signing up. We will guide you on a proper rehab program, and will give you a plan to prepare you for our Trail Running Clinic.

What are the session dates?

Tuesdays: April 9, April 16, April 23, April 30, May 7, May 14, May 21, May 28, June 4, June 11

Tuesday sessions will be at Knox Mountain from 6:15pm-7:15PM.

Sundays: April 14, April 21, April 28, May 5, May 12, May 19, May 26, June 2, June 9, June 16

Sunday sessions will start at 8am, roughly 1-hour duration to start, and progressing to 2 hours by the end of the program. Location varies as we explore different trails around Kelowna.

What if I have to miss a session?

We encourage participants to attend all or as many of the sessions as possible. However, if you need to miss a session or two, you can still follow the training program on your own. If you switched things around a bit, we can provide advice on how to safely and quickly catch you up with the rest of the group.

What is the cancellation policy?

If you decide to cancel within one week after signing up, you will get a full refund less the transaction fees. If you cancel before September 1st, you will get a 50% refund of your registration fee. If you cancel after September 1st, no refunds will be issued. In both of these cases, you can still access the educational contents and training program to do on your own. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us by email (info@movemed.ca).

If I get injured and can no longer continue the program, can I get a refund?

Unfortunately, we will not be able to reimburse your registration fees, but you have access to all of the educational contents and the pre-made training program, so that you can use them when you recover from your injury. Because our programs are built by physiotherapists with an expertise in running, we think your risk of injury is lower. If you’re starting to feel aches and pains, please reach out to our team so we can act on it quickly!
